Wire Strainers
About this object
This is a unique wire strainer which is estimated to date between 1850 and 1900. The Thornbury Vintage Tractor Club has a collection of varying types of wire strainers from a number of manufacturers, some of which walked along the wire.
Almost all of these different wire strainers were superseded by the Hayes Wire Strainer which was invented by Ernst Hayes of Oturehua, Central Otago in 1924. Hayes Wire Strainers are still sold worldwide today.
