Ammunition, GrapeshotAbout this object
A round cannon ball, "grapeshot",reasonably heavy but not perfectly round, when assembled, the balls resemble a cluster of grapes, hence the name. Grapeshot is a type of shot, that is not one solid element, but a mass of small metal. On firing the balls spread out of the muzzle giving the effect similar to giant shotgun. Is similar to those that were found in the Mokau river by the Motutawa Mission Station, at different times and handed into the museum.Medium and Materials
