About this object

Three coins found at Halfway House Hotel site G11 on 30 November 1984 by Dr N Ritchie, Ministry of Works archaeologist.
a. 1878 Great Britain florin. The obverse has the crowned bust of the younger Queen Victoria and the reverse crowned shields of the United Kingdom in a cross with the nation's emblems in the angles.
b. 1905 Great Britain half penny. The obsverve side is very corroded but the reverse side shows the helmed Britannia seated facing right, holding a trident, hand resting on a shield, 'HALF' to the left, 'PENNY' to the right, and the date 1905 below.
c. 1896 one shilling Great Britain coin. The obverse has the veiling "widow head" of Queen Victoria and the reverse has three shields and a garter with a rose between the upper two shields.
