Brass button stick
About this object
Hinged brass plates used by soldiers when cleaning buttons and/or buckles on military uniforms. One plate has slots cut in to one side so that when it closes over the bottom plate the buttons can stand proud and away from the uniform fabric ready for cleaning. The button stick was carried in the soldiers personal kit ready for use at any time.
