About this object

1896 British sixpence found at halfway house hotel site G9 on 28 November by Dr N Ritchie, Ministry of Works archaeologist. The obverse features the mature Queen Victoria facing left with the words VICTORIA DEI GRA BRITT REGINA FID DEF IND IMP.
The reverse has the words SIX PENCE in the centre under a crown with an oak wreath around the sides with the date 1896 on the bottom.
