Staple Puller, 'Giant' No 101

About this object

This is 'Giant' No 101 Crescent Tools Staple Puller. Used in fencing to remove staples from steel and wooden posts, it belonged to Bert Laurie. Bert worked around many farms throughout Eastern Southland (Waipahi, Pukerau, Gore and Knapdale) for most of his life. Self-employed, Bert worked alone. Known locally for his hard work and very straight aligned fences, a work accident involving a hammer left Bert without a thumb. This did not interfere with the quality of his work.
