Name/Title

Spanner, tractor

About this object

This Ferguson tractor spanner EN18 was part of the toolbox that came with all new Ferguson TE20s and was designed to fit most of the bolts on the machine. The TE20 tractor, affectionately known as the Little Grey Fergie, was produced between 1945 and 1955 and was so successful that Ford, a major competitor, labelled it the Grey Menace.

The one inch graduations embossed on the shaft were useful for measuring farrow widths when ploughing and were also used as a fuel level indicator.
