Name/Title

Photograph [Mataura Celebration, decorated bridge]

About this object

A black and white photograph taken of a festively decorated Mataura Bridge, and a decorated shop to the right, in the foreground. The one-lane bridge was well-wrapped in colourful bunting, with a representation of a monarchical crown centred by bunting across the entrance to the bridge. Foliage was also tied to the bridge for added decoration. Foliage and ribbons can also be seen decorating the outside of a shop (foreground, right). In the distance, past the bridge, can be seen the two-storey Bank Of New Zealand building. It is likely that the adornments were put up to celebrate a royal visit.
