About this object
A black and white studio portrait of Arthur Brooke Quertier.
Arthur came from an interesting family - his father Alfred was apparently one of the first Quakers to come out to New Zealand, and as he had come from Guernsey in the Channel Islands he named his Mataura farm 'Guernsey Park'. One of Arthur's siblings, Hilary, was an inventor, while another sibling, Albert Ernest, worked a gold-dredging barge in the Waimumu Stream. Sadly, Arthur died in 1906 of tuberculosis.
