About this object

Scout Woggle; this bone woggle was made and worn by Ian McKelvie who was a member of the Mataura Scout group from 1937 to 1985 during which time he served in a range of roles up to Commissioner for the Lower Mataura District. The winged foot on the woggle depicts Ian's scout name of Fleetfoot. We have a photograph album recording Ian's scouting activities between 1947 and 1951; the reference is MT2012.2, if you would like to have a look.
