About this object
Combination; a white cotton combination made by the English company Stapley and Smith who specialised in foundation garments and underwear. This garment was part of Mrs Alma Maud Wright's of Mataura (1903-1998) glory box and it was donated to us by her daughter, Mrs Ina Russell.

A label is sewn on the inside front placket. it is stitched in red and reads:
'Sterling / Manufacturer's Logo [Stylised Pound Symbol in a Shield] / TRADE MARK / S & S'.
A second label is stitched onto the bottom of the left leg and reads:
'S & S LTD, Sterling / Manufacturer's Logo [Stylised Pound Symbol in a Shield] S & S. / No 9243 / WOMS. 59/11 ' O.s 69/-'
