About this object

Bedpan; a white wedge-shaped pottery bedpan, known as the 'Slipper'. The instructions read: 'The New Slipper Bed Pan - this slipper should be passed under the patient in front between the legs. If a flannel cap be made for the blade fastened by strings under the handle considerable comfort will be afforded'.

It was owned by Mrs Esther Webb of Kana Street, Mataura and was donated to us by her granddaughter Mrs Shirley Hesselin.

I have one similar to this that I bought while stationed at Lakenheath AFB. has ayrton saunders ...liverpool on you have any idea how old this is or if it belongs in a museum?
