About this object

A wedding dress of silk matalasse, made and worn 1937. It is coronation blue ankle length, cut on classical lines. It has long sleeves, a self coloured satin frill at neck, a self belt that closes with a blue plastic buckle, and a biscuit shade necktie with a bow at the back. There is a clip on bone broach of 3 cream scallop shells with a silver edging stitched to the centre front neck.
