An early Maori carving, carved from New Zealand Totara with stone tools and recovered from Lake Ngaroto in 1906.

Medium and Materials

The carving is made of New Zealand Totara and has been carbon dated to put the creation of the carving to 1200 AD. It is likely that early Tainui carvers were the ones who created the carving.
