About this object
A set of two paintings on a page of a scrapbook album compiled by the artist F.W. Coombes. The Eastern & Australian Company's S.S. CATTERTHUN and the China Navigation Company's S.S. CHANGSHA. The CATTERTHUN was an 1881 Steamer of 2179 tons which freighted gold to China and returned to Australia with tea. She was wrecked at Seal Rocks, New South Wales in August 1895.
The S.S. CHANGSHA was a 1886 steamer of 2269 tons also involved in trade with China from Australia. She was broken up in China in 1926.
