This book was written as a text to seventh form introduction to historiography between 1800-1900. It includes first contact information and relevant historical events, such as the Treaty of Waitangi. It does not, however, discuss the Declaration of Independence in 1835. There is an attempt at social and Maori discussion around the two cultures coming together, but it is too brief to be of use. A general history book giving context to events in the Bay Islands from 1800 to 1900.
