Bottle, Glass, Moffett & Co

About this object

This codd-neck bottle for carbonated drinks was recovered from the wreck of the 'Tyrone' a cargo ship outward bound from England. The ship foundered off the Otago Heads in September 1913 but fortunately there was no loss of life and most of the cargo of whiskey and general merchandise was salvaged.

It is likely, given that the bottle was made in London in 1913 and the 'Tyrone' sank that same year, that it was part of the cargo intended for Moffetts but never arrived.
