Photograph, Nine Duthie Sisters

About this object

This is a photograph of the nine Duthie sisters who only had two brother. The sisters were born to the Quarry Hill School Teacher, William Duthie, who later went into farming and stayed in the district for the rest of his life.

In adulthood, the sisters married and went their separate ways, some going to the North Island. After 32-years apart, Ivy May MacIntosh arranged a reunion of the sisters, at which this photograph was taken.
