Hand dryer
About this objectThe electric hand dryer was invented in New Plymouth. A fan blew heated air over wet hands to dry them. It was more hygenic than a hand towel in public toilets. When the hands move into the semienclosed space the infrared beam is interrupted and the dryer starts. After a fixed time the dryer stops.

I suspect it is just this style of hand dryer that was patented in New Zealand (date unknown).
The electrical electric hand dryer was actually invented in 1948 by an American George Clemens.
This hand dryer was invented (in New Plymouth) by my father Brian Aroa with old patents pending under RD AROA (since sold)
