QuartzAbout this object
Quartz; a piece of auriferous, gold bearing quartz.
Quartz is a crystalline form of silicon dioxide, and the most common oxide on the earth’s surface. This is the mineral that gold and silver are found in, in gold reefs, in the Hauraki area. Over 2 million tonnes of quartz was mined on the Thames goldfield alone.
