About this object

Cap; a black velvet cap which is part of a Scottish outfit. The cap has black and red ribbons at the side, a feather and a black tassle on the top.

Though born in India, Allan Kerr Taylor was of Scottish descent and was educated in Scotland from when he was around eight years old. This heritage was evidently very important to him as the younger children are photographed wearing Scottish dress, see XAH.GH.1.30.
