About this object

James McFadzien won this box of chocolates as the youngest Ploughman at the Drummond Ploughing Match on 3 July 1928. The chocolates have not survived.

James' wife donated several items to Te Hikoi after her husband's death. She wrote of this box: 'My husband, the late James McFadzien, won the box of chocolates in an early Drummond ploughing match and he treasured his prize'.
