Fan, Folding, Gauze with flower spray and birds

About this object

A large bamboo and gauze folding hand fan, with hand painted flower spray and bluebirds. The montures (sticks and guards) are made of bamboo and are long and wide, creating a larger fan than most. The gauze is light and transparent, leaving the sticks visible from both sides. The flowers and birds are painted delicately on the outer side.

There is no acquisition documentation for this fan so it cannot be accurately dated, or provenance determined, but the use of gauze indicates it is likely Victorian.
