In 1971 when he began researching his book, 'Blue Water Rationale,' Ian McGibbon would ave never expected to find himself scrambling around the slopes of Gallipoli watching out for the live ammunition, human bones, and snakes. For the last four years, he has been part of the Joint Historical and Archaeological Survey of the Anzac Battlefield. This is being conducted by Australian/New Zealand/Turkish archaeologists, historians, and researchers to fulfil a 2005 agreement between the prime ministers if the three nations.Maker
