Davina Whitehouse, OBE was a stage, film and television actress acclaimed in bother her native US as well as Australasia. She was born in London in 1912. Whitehouse was a star of the London stage in the 1930's before immigrating to New Zealand in 1952, where she found work in radio, theatre, and television.
Neil Penman, self-taught photographer, was born in 1931. He owned and operated a woodworking business with his wife in Porirua for 35 years. There, he completed many photographic projects on the people and places in the district. In 1987, he was awarded the Photographic Society of New Zealand's gold medal in photojournalism as well as the gold medal for open prints.
