About this object1.75" Transit Telescope; 1.75" aperture transit circle of polished brass, made by Troughton and Simms. "Troughton & Simms / LONDON" engraved on the axis. Used by the Dominion Observatory and Carter Observatory. Transit circles are used for timing the passage of stars across the local meridian, an event known as a transit.
