Name/Title

Pads: skeleton-style batting pad

About this object

Batting pads are an essential part of a cricketer's protective equipment. Pads like this one, dating from c1895, used cane, wrapped in leather, to protect the batsman from the impact of the ball. By the early 1900s, the design of pads no longer featured the gaps between the cane frame that this 'skeleton' pad has.
