Hokitika Museum

The Hokitika Museum is a regional museum located in the heart of Te Tai Poutini - West Coast. What began in 1869, in the new Town Hall, as the “Museum Room” grew into the West Coast’s largest museum and archive.
In 2021 the Hokitika Museum closed its public galleries for seismic strengthening. Please go to the Hokitika Museum website and social media platforms for any updates.
Te Tai - Hokitika Museum Research Centre is available for online enquiries through our website, phone or email while seismic strengthening is taking place.
