About this objectThis is an elegant example of a cast iron table top sewing machine. It was manually operated by turning the handle on the wheel. This was connected to the bottom wheel by a drive belt and a bar driven by the bottom wheel operated the needle shaft while the seamstress guided the fabric under the needle with her other hand.
