About this object

Taking a break during the picking of a heavy potato crop, the potato harvest is in full swing. Not horse drawn digger and sacks of potato in field. Soils in Willowbridge and Studholme Districts of Waimate grew excellent crops. The Waimate Museum holds several items relating to the early potato harvesting days - 1860 potato digger, Champion 1908 potato planter, potato baskets and forks, and a potato baggers apron.
