Originally from Milton, Thomas Ralph King arrived in Wyndham around 1913. He first worked for the firm Hastings, Wilson & Co and when the firm folded he took up their business operating for a short time as the local plumber and tinsmith.

Ralph succumbed to influenza on 25 November 1918. Aged only 33, he left behind a widow, three daughters and a son.
