About this object

This is a photograph of Gustavus (Gus) and Annie Stevenson (nee McBride) on their wedding day in 1903.

The couple had three daughters together, Isabella Ramsay, Mary Jane Henderson and Catherine. All three never married.

Gus moved to Wyndham in 1891 to work for Richardson's Stables and was a popular coach driver to Edendale. In 1909, he went out on his own as a general carter, forwarding agent and coal merchant. Gus and his horse and cart where a familiar sight around Wyndham until 1944 when he sold up to Bill McKay, who had returned home from World War Two.
