Barrow, Sack

About this object

Frank Bulling used this sack barrow at his general store in Glenham. Frank, and his brother Morey, took over the business from their father upon their return from World War Two in 1946. The brothers also owned the Edendale butchery which allowed them to provide full grocery services for the area. The Bulling's delivered four days a week to Glenham, Mimihau, Seaward Downs, Menzies Ferry, and Mataura Island. In Frank's memoir he stated that they sold 'everything from a needle to an anchor'. In 1960 Morey died suddenly. Frank continued the business on his own, and in the early 1970s took over the McKay's store in the Wyndham main street.
