Vase, BrassAbout this object
This hexagonal brass vase comes from the home of Dr Rogers of Wyndham.
Doctor Rogers served in the South African (Boer) War (SA4356), as a Captain Surgeon with the New Zealand Army's eighth contingent. With the exception of this war service and a period of study in England, Dr. Rogers was Wyndham's resident doctor from around 1897 until 1907. He practised in Gore for the rest of his career, including 40 years as Superintendent of Seddon Memorial Hospital. He maintained a strong connection with Wyndham however, regularly visiting a farm he owned in the Mokoreta Valley.
