About this objectThis is a framed and glazed photograph of the Seaward Downs Dairy Factory with the staff posing out the front. The factory was built by Mr A. P. Schmidt in 1897, and Peter Cunningham was the first manager. Milk first arrived at the plant on the December 6, 1897 from the Campbell family across the road. Almost every farm in Seaward Downs supplied milk to the factory. On the 19th October 1940 the factory and plant was totally destroyed by fire, however, a new factory was built and in production by October 21, 1941.
