About Donaghy's Rope & Twine Co Ltd:
Donaghy's was founded in Dunedin in 1876 by M Donaghy of Geelong. The company was considered a personal concern until it was officially registered in 1889 and in 1895 it was amalgamated with the Donaghy Company in Auckland and the Southland Rope & Twine Companies.
Donaghy's factories in Auckland and South Dunedin manufactured all kinds of cordage and their Invercargill factory specialised in binder twine. Donaghy's pioneered the manufacture of binder twine in New Zealand and exported all their goods to Australia and the South Sea Islands.
