About this object
This postcard was sent from Mataura M.P. Robert McNab (son of Alexander and Janet McNab) to the Mayor of Gore, D.L. Poppelwell.
The message is, what we would term today as, an out of office note. It explains that Robert McNab will be sailing from Auckland to San Francisco on board the S.S. Sierra on Friday 2 of March 1906, spending a short time in the Eastern States and then to England. It further details that Mr J.A. Hanan. M.H.R. for Invercargill will be attending to Robert's work and that he will be returning early in the next parliamentary session.
This postcard reflects the connection between the Gore Mayor and his local M.P. and is an indication of how connected Gore was to wider New Zealand politics in the early-twentieth century.
