Victorian burred totara sideboardAbout this object
Burred totara sideboard. It features a curved wooden cupboard door at each end and two glass fronted cupboards at the front, with two shelves inside.
The sideboard has a high curved back at the top, also made of burred totara, with cartouche of inlaid woods at the centre. It has four pilasters front and ends.

The sideboard was exhibited in Melbourne Australia in 1886, as part of the New Zealand Display of craft. It was made approximately 1886 by John Williams, Christchurch, the grandfather of the donor.The sideboard was originally loaned to the Historical Committee of the Palmerston North Centennary Association (Incorporated) for display in the historic cottage "Totaranui" which opened on 4 October 1970.The care of the cottage was transferred to the Manawatu Museum Society on 29 November, 1971Named Collection
