About this object

Two brooches, one gold with tiny pearls, safety chain, the other gold with two amethysts, both in boxes "Robilliard & Son East St. Ashburton N.Z." Both belonged to noted Ashburton philanthropist Miss Jane Chalmers who farmed with her uncles in Beach Rd. endowed wards at both Christchurch and Ashburton Hospitals in the 1920s and 30s as well as building operating theatres at Ashburton Hospital and leaving a substantial bequest to the hospital.
