Bottle; 17-32

About this object

This green beer bottle belonged to Frank Dore' who lived at Mangawhai after his retirement. He worked for A.H.I Glass and became Operations Manager for A.H.I Glass. On his retirement A.H.I Glass presented him with 2 pellets of beer with his personal label on each bottle. Each bottle was also inscribed with the following...
'FRANK DORE', 1949 - 19985. Congratulations and thanks for 36 years loyal service N.Z.G.M.'
Frank was one of the many volunteers who joined the Mangawhai Harbour Restoration Society. He worked on the dredge, The Spirit of Mangawhai, that operated in the Mangawhai Estuary in the early 1990's. One day the dredge ran out of oil so Frank went home to get some. He arrived back at the dredge with one of his 'original bottles' filled with oil. The question had to be asked by those present "Where did this bottle come from?"
