These two plaques indentify with the Leslie Family.
There is a wooden plaque showing the crest of Rt. Hon. The Earl of Rothes, Chief of Leslie Clan. It is depicted surrounded by a strap and buckle and embellished with the motto 'GRIP FAST'.
Another wooden plaque shows the 'Ancient' Tartan of the Leslie Family.
There is a badge which is sword- shaped with the motto and crest of the Leslie Family on it 'GRIP FAST'. The badge is silver with a secure pin to attach it to clothing.
There is another round, silver badge which is used to hold a sash over the shoulder and is secured by a pin clasp at the back. A silver 'Griffen' in the middle is surrounded by a belt and buckle. The 'GRIP FAST" motto of the Leslie family is on top of the badge.
All these items belonged to John Lawrence Balderston b 1922 d 2004 of Kaiwaka, known as Lawrie.
