About this object

'Their Only Harvest'; an oil painting on stretched canvas. This depicts fishermen hauling up a large load of fish in rough seas. Painted in 1924 by J J Campbell, this image is a copy of the original which was painted by Colin Hunter (1841-1904) and depicts the west coast of Ireland. The original is currently within the collection of the Tate Modern, London. It was presented to the Tate in 1879 by the Trustees of the Chantrey Bequest.
