About this object
This is a Prussian early WWI 'Pickelhaub' leather helmet. Spike missing.
A large eagle emblem on the front of helmet reads: MIT GOTT FUR / KOENIG / UND VATERLAND (With God For King and Fatherland).
It is thought to have been brought back by Raglan men who fought in World War One.

Thanks Uwe for your comment. You're right, as I'm unfamiliar with German I was reading the inscription in the wrong order. Now corrected.
Your are missing a word in the German orginal. I guess it is 'Koenig', so the sentence will read
"Mit Gott für König und Vaterland"
