Cotton knit swim suit

About this object

Navy blue cotton knit swimsuit with pale grey or discoloured white bands around hems. Short sleeves, with shoulder openings which close with buttons, shorts with 'modesty skirt'. This has come from the Otamatea Repertory Theatre, but it had once belonged to one of the Coates. It is thought to be one of Edward Coates's from Pukekaroro and is c.1920. There is a hand written label at back neck reading 'Coates' and on inside left sleeve is 'Underwood' in blue ball point pen.
