Christening gown
About this objectCream coloured silk christening gown. Bulk machine sewn, except for lace finishing's. Skirt gathered onto yoke. Skirt is three uneven pieces sewn together, large hem 12cm. Rectangle yoke from back to front with neck hole in the centre. Yoke is formed by wide strips of silk embroidered net machine lace with floral motifs. Neckline has crochet lace trim. The sleeves are bell shaped, gathered at the wrist, which are cuffed with matching lace from yoke. Two floral motifs from the lace are sewn onto front and back yoke either side of the neck. Back has a placket opening fastened with three metal hooks and hand sewn eyes. Used in 1910.
