1. Brass letter badge, 'N.Z.M.R.' New Zealand Mounted Rifles. 2. 11th North Auckland Mounted Rifles collar badge c.WW1. Boars head surrounded by a wreath, with banners above, 'XI KIA TUPATO NAMR'. 'Kia tupato' means 'Be cautious'. Both badges belonged to donors father Robert Sterling (Snr) of Sterling's Road who was in the North Auckland Mounted Rifles, which started for the Boer War in 1899. Badges are pre 1914.Date Made
