About this object

15th North Auckland Regiment badge with motto 'Pour Devoir' (for duty). Round brass with crowned number 15 with laurel wreaths surround. This badge belonged to Pte. Harry Sidney Sterling 10397. During WW1 he served with 12th Reinforcements Wellington Infantry Battalion, J Company. Harry was supposed to have served in Egypt, France and Belgium and took his own horse Bess with him where they served together in Egypt. However when the troops were sent to France all the horses were left behind and shot. Harry was wounded twice and suffered shell-shock and it was difficult for him to adjust back to normal life, spending the remainder of his life with family.

This so cool! Where they given in the beginning or after the war? I have my great Grandfathers medal and its exactly the same! I want to know if the medal was on the Olympic when he went to and from Europe on her!
