About this object

Black velvet rugby cap with six panels and gold trimmings. Small peak at front and gold metal tassel on top. 'FWR 1905 1906 1907 1908 1909' embroidered above peak and then around to the back. Inside label reads, 'J.A. Cooper, Auckland' as a maker with 'Mitchell' written also as owner. R. Mitchell came to the area as a gum digger and retired in Auckland.
