About this object

White, Damask linen table centre, oval shape with a knitted cotton border. Knitting was done by Miss Sarah Trouson, known to all the district as 'Auntie Trounson'. She could neither read or write and spent many hours knitting various patterns of lace. She came out from England when she was 40 to care of James Trounson and his family of eight children. c. pre 1900.
