Subject and Association Description

This is a portrait of the artist's daughter and family who were travelling to Melbourne. The daughter had made pretty pink dresses for her girls to impress their hosts in Melbourne. The flight was cancelled from Auckland and they made it to Melbourne at 11.30pm. They were dishevelled and no one was there to meet them. The title refers to Wattleglen, the suburb of Melbourne they were meant to be staying in. The artist was interested in the trouble her daughter had gone to, which was to no avail.
